Did you know that BookTok is… well… a thing? I didn’t until recently. It’s sort of a neighborhood within TikTok, a place where readers and authors can hang out, share book recommendations, joke about our inabilities to go into a bookstore without buying something, and just have a good time with other folks who love books.
BookTok is so big that Barnes & Noble credits it with boosting paperback book sales during the pandemic. Bookstores are setting up tables with books that are trending on BookTok. It’s the biggest place to find new books right now.
Honestly, I’m not great at social media. I don’t think my brain is wired for it; a lot of it brings me down. But the reader and author community on TikTok (aka BookTok) is so fun and joyful. It really lifts me up.
If you’re on TikTok, I recommend checking out the #BookTok hashtag. And of course, follow me on TikTok for book recs and book news (and my kitties, who have found their way into more than one video already).
