If you took a look at my day-to-day routine, you might think I’m an introverted lone wolf. It’s true, I spend a lot of time in my own company. And it’s also true that, for the most part, being a writer is a solitary gig. I outline alone, I write alone, I force myself to make graphics and post to social media alone. But I’m actually an extrovert. I love being around other people, talking to strangers (who pretty quickly cross the threshold into being called “friends”), and collaborating with other writers and artists on random projects. It’s the thing I miss most about being in bands, and I usually fill that need by going to local writers group meetings or setting up shop at conferences and conventions.
For the last few months, I’ve gotten to combine that love of collaboration with my love of writing by working with a narrator to turn Superhero Syndrome into an audiobook. Last night at about 9:00 pm, the fruits of our collective efforts paid off, and the book went live on Audible and iTunes!
I just want to take a moment to thank my narrator, Ruby Hankey, for the many hours of hard work she put into bringing Tess and her friends to life. Ruby works in theatre, film, and voiceover in New York City, and she’s a natural at storytelling. Listening to her perform Tess’ story brought a smile to my face chapter after chapter, and I’m so grateful she was willing to work with me to make this happen. If you need a narrator or voiceover actress, I can’t say enough good things about Ruby!
